Song of Almajiri and Other Poems

Song of Almajiri & Other Poems is a collection of poems which explores the multifaceted struggles for survival in Nigeria and other Black African countries. The poems are essentially presented as elegies mourning several losses in the poet’s world. Notably, the poet mourns the tragedy of Almajiri syndrome in Northern Nigeria which has led to the ruin of millions of innocent children who are abandoned by their parents under the guise of providing Islamic tutelage. The poet also mourns the devastation which arose as a result of the outbreak of the pandemic Covid 19.
