Sona Pal after her marriage with Ramkanai come to settle in this lowland. They have a daughter Sumona and son Rakesh. When Ramkanai die Sona is just thirty-seven years of age. This is the story of a woman; her struggle to save her house, her family and the memory of her husband. India is an ancient civilization, it is not a country of snake-charmers and mysticism but of people struggling for their daily bread. It is a country having several social contradictions and a political scenario of its own where spiritualism is only a fragment of the whole activities of life we inherit. This is also the story about those people who are the actual composite of this land, it is a tale about their tales.
