'Greta' is the harrowing story of an escape from the German concentration camp 'Buchenwald' by a young Jewish girl and a camp guard in the winter of 1939. The story is inspired by and loosely based on a real couple who met under the worst possible circumstances and despite all the hate around them, managed to fall in love. The book follows their escape from the camp after Billy fakes Greta's execution, their journey across Germany and through France in the Spring of 1940 at the time when the Third Reich was on the verge of attacking France and the Low countries and incorporates this frantic period of World history. Eventually they make contact with the French resistance lead by an enigmatic ex World War One Pilot of American birth who is part of the S.O.E. (Strategic Operations Executive) then based at RAF Tempsford in Bedfordshire during World War Two.
